We are delighted to share that the winner of the First Annual Composition Competition is Aidan McCormack! Aidan's piece, "Sun and Shadow on the Blackfoot," will be premiered this summer by Montana Youth Symphony.

Prize

• $1000 cash prize
• World Premier by the Montana Youth Symphony
• Consideration to add piece to MASO music library

Submission Specifications

Piece to be:
• A concert overture, festive in nature and suited to be played by a festival orchestra
• Playable by an advanced youth orchestra with standard instrumentation
• Duration 3-5 minutes

• Digital mp3

Submission Evaluation

Submission will be adjudicated by a panel of recognized American composers.

Eligibility

All young emerging composers in Montana are encouraged to apply. This includes, but is not exclusive of, those who are current students or graduates of a Montana high school or university, or those born, raised, residing in, or have some other connection to Montana.
